Headframe Films is an independent film and media production company based in Toronto, Canada. 


Cliff Caines, Producer/Director

Cliff Caines is an independent filmmaker whose films have screened internationally at festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival, CPH:DOX, and the American Documentary Film Festival. His first feature-length film A Rock and a Hard Place (2015) received an Honourable Mention for the Colin Low Award for Canadian Documentary at the 2015 DOXA Documentary Film Festival. Caines is a graduate of OCAD University’s Integrated Media program, and Concordia University’s MFA Studio Arts: Film Production program. He is also an alumnus of the TIFF 2012 Talent Lab and RIDM’s 2015 DCM Talent Lab. Raised in Northwestern Ontario, Caines currently lives and works in Toronto, Canada.

Ryan Randall, Director of Photography

Ryan A. Randall is a cinematographer, technician, and educator who graduated from the Ontario College of Art & Design in 2002 with a major in Integrated Media. An Associate of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers for the past decade he actively shoots commercials, documentaries, shorts, and media arts projects. Ryan is also a Film and Media Technician for over 15 years between  OCAD University and currently at Queen’s University, where he is also acting as the Technical Supervisor for the newly established Vulnerable Media Lab. He has photographed works that have shown at Toronto International Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, Images Film Festival, Locarno International Film Festival, and DOXA Documentary Festival, amongst others.
